1977 XJC purchased 6/11/2009 from Derek McLaughlan of Vic.

The car showed 58920 miles (possibly add a few times around the clock?) on the speedo and its points of interest are:

Nil black vinyl top ...which I much prefer
5 speed manual... notchy and problematic...auto would be smoother.
Triple SUs
Supposedly a D type cam shaft grind?
Series 3 cosmetics.

It's QLD registration is now XJC-03 and the speedo now reads 61903 and yes, I have only done 2983 miles, most of it driving it home to Brisbane in 2009. It only ever gets a run at a regularity or sprint events and is now laid up awaiting a replacement power steering kit as it has weeped all the red stuff onto the garage floor.

I often see Derek at Sandown or Phillip Island events (that's also where I first saw the car) but I've never been given much info on its history.

As far as I know and understand from Derek, I may be the 5th or 6th owner and the car was a private import in 1978/9 whilst it's upgrade to Series 3 cosmetics was in 1982. Derek then told me it was purchased by an Ian Wagstaff of Bairnsdale circa 1989 and then approx 2001-3 by a John who had it in Tasmania.
